The Australian Greens welcome our 2 newest Senators
Senator Sarah Hanson-Young, 26, makes history as the youngest woman ever elected to the Federal Parliament, and is the youngest member of the current Parliament.
"It's been a nine-month wait since the election results were declared, and I am incredibly honoured and excited to be here in the chamber today, able to put South Australia's issues front and centre," said Senator Hanson-Young.
Sarah vowed to put the Murray River at the top of Canberra's agenda when she was sworn in today. Read Sarah's entire Media Release
While new Western Australian Greens Senator Scott Ludlam was also sworn in today in the Senate Chamber, pledging to put nuclear issues and climate change at the top of Australia's agenda.
"Key priorities in the next six years will be helping Australian communities prepare for the challenges of peak oil and climate change, and continuing the important work of campaigning for a nuclear-free world and ensuring that Australia does not fall for the fallacy that nuclear power could be a solution to climate change" said Senator Ludlam.
