Alcopops tax opens good possibilities - Greens

Australian Greens Leader Bob Brown has reiterated the Greens' willingness to have talks with Health Minister Nicola Roxon about 'alcopops' taxation and campaign measures to reduce alcohol consumption.

"There is something illogical about the alcohol industry's claims that increasing taxation on one sector has induced consumers to increase alcohol consumption overall. However, the government should map out its comprehensive plan for education against alcohol abuse, improved health services and the abolition of alcohol advertising to promote higher consumption," Senator Brown said.

"We look forward to some good outcomes here," Senator Brown said.
