Congratulations NT Greens

Excellent result in NT election

Congratulations go out to the NT Greens who on the latest official count on Saturday night have polled an average of 15.9% of votes across the 6 seats contested by the Greens in the snap NT election. This figure is a significant improvement on the 2005 result where the Greens polled an average of 9.5% across the 11 seats contested.

Highlights included the electorate of Nightcliff where Emma Young polled an excellent 23.6% - a great improvement of +7.9% from 2005. Lenny Aronsten in Greatorex polled 18.4% (+ 7.7% ). Linda Chellew in Araluen polled 13.5% (+4.0%) and David Pollock in Daly polled 7.9% (+3.3). Gary Abbott in Port Darwin (15.6%) and Jane Clark in Braitling (14.8%) also polled very impressively as the first time Greens have run in those seats. In Braitling the Greens even managed to out-poll the ALP who recieved only 11.3% of the primary vote.

Congratulations go out to all NT Green candidates, their supporters and families as well as to the many hard working Greens volunteers who helped out across the Territory.
